WUNDERLI WANDERINGS

Below is an update on what we have been up to in recent weeks. Life is never dull which is a good thing :) Last month Simon was asked to pick up a Cessna 208 in Guam to finish off the ferry flight that started in the US. The ferry pilot didn't want to fly it into Australia as that would mean two weeks of quarantine. Despite Guam just being north of PNG Simon and Brad had to fly from Cairns to Sydney to San Francisco to Honolulu and then onto Guam. This was the safest way to go that would have them minimise their chances of lockdowns and quarantines. Thankfully the plan worked out well and Simon and Brad were able to pick up the plane in Guam and fly it 13 hours to Cairns. It took a few hours to log all the flight plans but thankfully they managed it in the time frame they had. Below are some photos they took of the flight. Last week Megan and I had the opportunity to go on an HR visit to our Arnhem Land programme in the Northern Territory. As some of you will identify with it has been a long time since we have been able to fly anywhere. As you can see it looks a bit different due to the mandatory wearing of face masks both in the airport and on the plane. Last year we had a restructure of the programme and with that came much change and transition. None of which are easy. However, it was a privilege to be able to have some face to face time with many of the families/individiuals. Thanks to the team for making us feel so welcome. On Saturday Megan and I had some time to explore. However, our movements were slightly restricted due to not having a permit to walk on indigenous land. I am not sure if you can still say Happy New Year at the beginning of February but since we won't be able to meet in person I will send you new year greetings anyway. 2021 has begun at a fair pace.  We celebrated Christmas at home and then headed down to the Gold Coast to spend some time with friends but also check out Universities for Joshua.  It was a 24hr journey by road each way so lots of time to bond in the car.  We did some fun things together such a boogie boarding (I got one for Christmas) and the kids and Simon did a quick intro to surfing from friends of ours.   All in all it was a good time just to be away from work life for a few days and enjoy time together. We are now all back in our usual routine of work whatever "usual" is.  Zara started year 11 and is in the thick of school work often finishing homework at 7pm at night.  She does have a couple of fun classes - photography and a diving course.  Both Joshua and Zara enjoy photograp...

A couple of weeks ago we reached a milestone.  Joshua finished Year 12 of school and is now officially not a high school student.  We thank God for the education that Joshua has been blessed with and all the experiences in between.  We look forward to what God has planned for him going forward.
