Transition and Miracles

We have now been in Scotland for almost three months.  In some ways it feels longer and on other days it feels like we have just arrived as we navigate another culture in all its nuances.  It is over 25 years since I first left Scotland to go overseas so there is a lot to catch up on despite multiple visits in between.

Family Update

Simon is currently in Switzerland as he had to apply for a visa to live in the UK.  This had to be lodged offshore so he and Zara flew out to Switzerland last week.  This also gave them an opportunity to catch up with family members that they hadn't seen in over three years.  We were hoping that the visa would only take a week to process and thanks to answered prayer Simon received notification that the visa has been granted.

Simon heads off to Guinea, West Africa in two weeks time to help out with operational flying.  Prayers appreciated for him during this time,

Joshua returned to Australia at the beginning of February to prepare for starting University at QUT in Brisbane.  He had a bit of a bumpy start as the motorbike he had purchased to get him around was stolen one day after receiving it.  This was discouraging news since it was unlikely that he would find it again.  However, we (and others) committed the situation to God and prayed for a miracle.   We are excited to say that the bike was picked up by the police and despite their being damage Joshua was able to tow it to the shop for repair.  Pray for him as he manages this alongside starting University next week.   Thanks to all of you who prayed for him and his bike....God worked a miracle!  Thankful to friends in Australia who have been there for him during this time!

Zara has been applying for jobs but she wasn't having much success.  However, I am thankful to share that, in the last week, she has been successful in securing a part time job in a coffee shop and in a  retail shop.  She will start this week when she returns from Switzerland.  She has also settled on a church to attend here in Edinburgh and went with a friend to a college group. We look forward to what God has in store for her this year as she looks to the future.

I (Pam) will start a new job with MAF on the 27th February as a People Care Specialist.  This is a new team within the HR department and I am excited to be part of this new venture.  Watch this space!

I was also able to connect with a MAF friend in London on Saturday who was over in the UK for meetings.  I only had a day to make this work due to other commitments.   Despite train cancellations and having to run through airports I had a great time and I look forward to the next time .  Thankful for friendships across the miles!

Please continue to pray for us a family as we settle in Scotland at this time. As many of you know it is not fun having your family based in different countries but thankful for modern technology that enables us to connect on a regular basis.

Thank you to many of you who have been praying for us - it makes a difference!
