Family update

It feels like not a whole lot has changed since our last post back in May.  We continue to manage the impact of Covid-19 in our MAF world and navigate the ever changing requirements that are necessary.

Simon has been "grounded" for a while now and spends more time on the computer than he would prefer but needs must.  There was hope for a while that he would be able to get into some programmes to do training but with the restrictions and forced quarantines it hasn't been possible so the planning continues.  The blessing of this has been that we have him more at home so we are not complaining :).

Life for me in HR has definitely been a roller coaster as we have managed the different situations that come across our desks.  There have been aircraft incidents, navigating a downsizing of one of our programmes, Covid-19 and health challenges.  We have definitely learned a lot but some things you only want to experience once! James 1:5 has been a prominent verse and one that is prayed often.

We, as a family, were able to go away for a few days camping whilst J and Z were on school break.  It was definitely basic as we took the hammocks and one tent and camped on an old cattle station.  No issues with social distancing.

One night Simon, Joshua and Zara went up one of the hills to get some star photos.  They were not gone long when I heard rustling in the bushes.  As you can imagine all manner of things run through your head sitting by a camp fire in the dark.  It turned out to be a cow who was looking for water in the creek.  However, having had some run ins with cows in the past it didn't give me much comfort although it did beat a crocodile or snake so for that I was thankful.  It all ended well and the cow didn't come any closer although I did have a contingency for that too :)

Below are some photos for you to enjoy!

The brave ones....cold and who knows what lurks beneath the surface

Zara and "Charlie" the horse.  He wasn't impressed to have to do lunging on a hot afternoon.  Thanks to Katie (Zara's friend) for sharing her horse.
