Bits and Pieces

It has been a while since I have written anything on our blog. It has been one of those weeks where the days have just whizzed past and I haven't had time to sit down and write anything.
We had Joni and Silke (Swiss/Dutch) couple staying with us again for a week. It was fun to have them and also hear about their time in Kenya. They got a bit of a surprise when it came to the temperature as it is a lot colder in Nairobi than Kampala. They are now doing a bit of touring on the Ssese Islands in Lake Victoria before they return to Switzerland.

Simon was flying on Saturday so I took Joshua and Zara out to the airstrip to pick him up from his flight. We arrived there to see a huge storm over the lake. I have never seen a sky so black unless it was nighttime. It was quite eerie. We prayed that Simon would make it in before the storm arrived. We continued to walk on the airstrip with one eye on the storm and one looking out for Simon's arrival. The storm was fast moving and so we gathered up the bikes and rushed back to the car before the storm lashed its fury on us. Phew it was quite the rain storm. Simon said he flew circled for 10 minutes before he saw a hole big enough to let him land. He did a short pass over the airstrip before turning and landing. It was quite the sight especially when he landed and all the water on the airstrip covered the plane. We were all happy to see him land safely. Just another flying day with MAF ;)

Today Simon went to the clinic to see about his left foot. He has been having some problems with it for the last month and it hasn't gotten any better. Anyway the doctor had a look at and determined that he had an infection of some sort and would need antibiotics and 7 sessions of physiotherapy. It is quite interesting sitting in a Dr's waiting room in Africa it can be thoroughly entertaining. The lady sitting next to me was obviously tired of waiting so she just put her head in her lap and went to sleep. For some reason when they call out your name it almost sounds like they are whispering it. I always wonder how people hear their name being called especially with so much going on about but somehow they do.

Joshua and Zara are still enjoying play school at our house on a Monday and Thursday with their friends. They have made all sorts of creations as well as playing games. They have had great fun.

Well the computer is about to die on me due to lack of power so will end this entry for now.
